Excellent desserts, mixed reviews on the food. Tuna sandwich about $15 and I don't think it was solid. Albacore. French fries were delicious. Turkey is real turkey breast but the sandwich is kind of plain. Cream. Puffs were amazing. Coffee was pretty good too. Wonderful staff.

We came on a weekday so no weekend crowds. Nestled in a rather residential neighborhood, FatApples is a long-time local favorite. Our food was great but our server was better. She was super patient with us and really made our dining experience very pleasant. The Detroit style pizza is the best I’ve had in recent memory (no hyperbole), and the Americano coffee was top notch brewed. There is a small amount of off-street parking outside.
Love Fat Apple's! Their baked goods are amazing, but the restaurant is also delicious! Their Detroit pizza is awesome, as is the salmon burger and fish & chips. Super friendly staff too
This is the first restaurant I tried since moving here and it did not disappoint. I plan on coming back and taking my family when they come and visit. They also have live music on Sundays and the last time I saw music it was an amazing jazz band. Very fun, and the place reminds me of One House in Benicia. Well worth visiting.
It’s been about a decade since I’ve been here and a lot has changed, I was sad to see that their delicious blueberry waffles were gone, I was looking forward to those haha. I got the pumpkin pancakes though and those were great, the service and environment are all cozy and amazingly well kept like I remember. The Banana Nutella waffles were also good from what my friend said. If the cream cheese puffs are anything like I remember, I’m sure they’re delectable, one of my favorite pastries here, but the others are really good as well - like the sugar cookies, muffins/cupcakes, etc.
Fat Apples american restaurant and bakery is a historical landmark serving up good eats in the city of El Cerrito. They have both indoor and outdoor seating available. The food and drinks are presented well and served in nice size portions. We ordered the garden scramble with bacon and sour cream as well as the ranch scramble with no cheese as our breakfast entrees. To drink, we ordered cranberry juice. There is a family-friendly ambiance that is handicap accessible. The ramp on the side can be used by those with mobility challenges using walkers, canes, or wheelchairs. The entrance door and ailes are wide enough to accommodate . The cost of food here is comparable to similar eateries. A few tips to keep in mind would be to prepare to pay at the time of placing your order inside. Also, be prepared to get your own glass of water, condiments, and silverware at the designated table centrally located. Friendly service was received from the cashier who also brought our food to the table. Will come again to try pizza and bakery items.
Delightful! This really is a "people's" place. Lots of locals. Wonderful selection of pastries and cooked meals for breakfast. Enjoyed a lazy Saturday morning, sitting on the patio, munching on a cheese puff and blueberry hand pie before we were served our egg breakfast. The home fries are so tasty, could have just had those for breakfast! The employees were all friendly and helpful, especially when I had to go back in to order more tasty treats. Hope to swing back by before our vacation ends! Update: we came back. So good!!
The food was fantastic! The food was served very quickly, I was very surprised because they were actually pretty busy! We ended up after our meal ordering coffees and pastries to go as well because it was too tempting not to! The young man who helped us was great and got right on it for us, he boxed up our pastries and put them on the counter and started working on the coffees, he really went above and beyond getting out order done for us, I was very off put though when a older lady who was wearing a mask that also worked there came over and started opening up our pastries to "make sure they were straight' on the counter while talking to another customer and when we told her they were our pastries because we thought she was trying to give them to the other customer she said she was just going to straighten it because it was slightly fallen over, I was very uncomfortable with her touching the pastry while another customer was standing over it and talking and after I had watched her touching other things she was going to place her hands on all of them without washing them first, other than her everyone else was extremely nice and we had great service from all the other employees.
I have been going here since they first opened. Love the pies especially! The rhubarb crisp is one of my favorite desserts. Love everything I have tried and that is most of what they offer. I also love their special seasonal pies like fresh blueberry cream, apricot crumb top, fresh peach and rhubarb raspberry. Oh so good!
Counter service... you order first, then they give you a number and bring the food to you. You seat yourself. Nice spot for family as they have a variety of food. Diner vibes. They also do take out. Be sure to try their desserts!
Very quaint bakery and restaurant in the hills of El Cerrito... Has that village Cafe feel. I had a burger which was excellent and my wife had a spinach and mushroom scramble... We also ordered a Detroit style pizza to go... Our servers were all excellent and cheerful. Can't go wrong with this place!
I had heard positive review from a family friend and my visit was above and beyond my expectation! Tried their burger and it’s an authentic American burger with good fresh ingredients. The apple pie is also great too!
We went to the Kensinton Circus Pub to find they were closed when a gentleman came upon us and told us about close by delivery and I said was kinda hoping fir a sit down meal with a beer.. Go to Fat Apples it just a couple of minutes down the street.. walked in and before I could look at a menu help was there, I wanted food bit started window shopping at their baked goods and deserts. Soup pizza and a ham n swiss sandwich with two pints, there are plenty of tables inside and almost all were taken (it was 12:24) lunch was fabulous and we both decided this is a spot we were glad to have discovered and will be a go to when in the area.
Great local bakery and fine restaurant. Good breakfast with both sweet and savory options. Variety of homey Americana options for dinner.
Owner is friendly and community center minded. Food is of course great, and great to hangout or work at the large kitchen setting. Great for brunch with kids, or simply chatting with friends.
Great place for food and conversation! The wait staff is super friendly and they’ll keep your coffee cups full as can be
